Adding a "Last Modified" Date on SharePoint Pages

For the last modified date to show on each page of a publishing site, I added this code before the html declaration on the master page:
<%@ Register Tagprefix="SharePointWebControls" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls" Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %>
And this code to the area where I wanted to date to show:
Last modified date: <SharePointWebControls:DateTimeField FieldName="Modified" runat="server" ControlMode="Display"/>
Thanks to http://blog.tylerholmes.com/2009/06/free-last-modified-bydate-from.html for this solution.

  1. create date time column with this formula '=TEXT([Modified],"mmmm d, yyyy ")'

just add this content field to your page layout
you can change date time format
This way is real work and i m using it in my project.
    Take it easy :)
    cool :)
